Every Linux user start their journey with Ubuntu. Today we discussing top 10 applications for every Ubuntu users must keep in their machine. These apps able to run on any linux distro.
1.Media Player (VLC)
I don’t need to tell you about the VLC player. Its support almost any of video format on the internet. To install VLC on Ubuntu type the following command and Hit Enter.
sudo apt install vlc
2. Web browser (Google chrome)
By default Ubuntu has firefox as its web browser. But if you’re Google user and already used chrome on window machines then moving to chrome is wise decision. To install chrome on Ubuntu you must download the .deb setup file from their website. Deb files are similar to .exe setup files on windows.
3. Torrent Client (Transmission)

4. Screen Recorder (Kazam)
If you’re working with YouTube channel to make Tutorials for newbies then Good Screen recorder is important. Kazam is open source recorder which is easy to install on Ubuntu. Captured videos files can be played by any video player that supports VP8/WebM video format(Yes! VLC). Its available in default Ubuntu repository called universe.

Wine is an Open Source implementation of the Windows API to run Windows apps on Ubuntu and other Linux operating systems.
Run the following command for install WINE on 64bit version of Ubuntu systems.

Sublime Text is one of the best text editors for programmers. Easy and simple interface make it more user friendly. Sublime can be downloaded for free from their web but the license must be purchased to continued use. When you going to save your code, it will prompt you to buy their license. However, you can close the prompt message and save your code. To download the Sublime, follow the instructions on their official website.
7. Cloud Storage (DropBox)
DropBox is one of the best cloud storage service(Yep! Google drive is also best!). They provide official client program for linux users. With their client program you’re able to quickly select files and upload them to dropBox. Visit their website in order to download client program.
8. Video Editor (KdenLive)
Need a awesome video editor for edit videos before upload them to YouTube? Then you will really want use KdenLive. In my view, Its best video editor for quick edits. Kdenlive is easy to download from Ubuntu software center.
9. Image Editor (GIMP)
In this case probably remind you Photoshop. Unfortunately Adobe has not officially ported Photoshop and Illustrator to Linux. Then GIMP is the best alternative for Ps. To install GIMP Tool via terminal, use the following command.
sudo apt-get install gimp
10. Email Client (Geary)
Ubuntu has Thunderbird as their default email app. However, Geary is one of the best email clients for Linux. If your are big fan of Gmail then you’ll find Geary is easier to use. Search Geary on Ubuntu software center to smooth installation.
